Promoting Strength-Based Practice in Waterloo Region
With support from Lions Quest Canada, The Alliance will bring together Waterloo Region youth-serving organizations as they explore and exchange knowledge on strength-based approaches (SBA) and mentor each other to create and further develop related programs and services in Waterloo Region.

Capacity Waterloo Region (CWR) is a five-year pilot project to deepen our region’s capacity for social innovation by developing resources to support people and ideas that lead to social change.  Non-profits and social enterprises will benefit from new cross-sectoral collaborations, enhanced leadership skills and networks and improved sectoral impact.

At Last” – An Accessible, Timely and Local Collaborative Hub of Agencies providing mental health services for Teens.
The project purpose is to increase access to a range of integrated mental health services for youth aged 12-18 years through new and existing community partnerships. 

The Music Therapy program at Lutherwood is an innovative program that encourages communication, listening and sharing of emotions with the ultimate goal of the improved wellness of the individual youth.  The Music Therapy program provides youth the opportunity to work towards their treatment goals using music.

Morningstar’s Encore Boutique Alternative Learning Program
Our Youth Retail Program is aimed to assist Youth at risk for alternative learning.  This program will prepare academically challenged youth with the hands on skills necessary for their future as productive and contributing members of society. 

OK2BME Out in Schools – Reducing LGBTQ Stigma in Schools
OK2BME Out in Schools aims to reduce homophobia / biphobia / transphobia by increasing the number of Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) in schools as well as engaging staff and students in LGBTQ anti-stigma education.  OK2BME is provided by KW Counselling Services.

The Waterloo Region Resiliency Initiative

This Initiative began in 2009 as a new space for funders and non-profit organizations to learn more about transforming business models and increasing sector effectiveness. The Initiative is employing a number of approaches including educational forums, partnerships, and project funding over its three-year lifespan.

Providing A ROOF (PAR)

R.O.O.F. is committed to providing for the safety, support, and overall well-being of homeless youth and youth-at-risk, age 12-25, in the Waterloo Region.  The Robert and Judith Astley Family Foundation granted funds to R.O.O.F. this year for their Providing a Roof (PAR) project.  The PAR project provides an emergency 10-bed shelter to homeless youth, both male and female, between the age of 16-25.

Male Allies Against Sexual Violence (MAASV)

The purpose of this program offered by the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region is to encourage male youth in developing a positive self-image, experience healthy relationships and avoid destructive behaviours through interaction with trained male peer-educators and role models in the community.

Come as You Are
Come As You Are is the all-inclusive philosophy implemented at the Woolwich Youth Centre to encourage all youth ages 11 to 18 to participate, play, learn, and grow.

Preventative Mental Health Youth Programs and Services
The Woolwich Counselling Centre provides innovative preventive counselling programs in one of our local rural high school.  Elmira youth benefit by developing and learning new skills to improve mental health and overall well-being.

The Cambridge Youth Leadership Development Centre
The Cambridge Youth Leadership Development Centre provides youth with a safe and positive place to build relationships, access resources, learn and develop skills and self-confidence, and make healthy lifestyle choices.
